Our body fat has its values

Our body fat has its values

Posted Date : 14 MAY 2019

The topic of fat has been on the minds of many, not only because summer season is officially in effect, but also because how we talk about weight has brought the subject to the cultural forefront. Now, you may look at body fat in a negative way…. But please do not judge it too harshly!  There are circumstances when a little more body fat can even be beneficial. Wonder how? Well… In recent years, a large majority of cosmetic surgeons have adopted fat grafting techniques as part of their approach. Now… what is fat grafting? Here’s what it is…

Have you ever wished you could take fat from one part of your body where you don’t want it and move somewhere more useful? We all know that shedding that excess fat can prove difficult as genetics, age, diet and loss of mobility are all risk factors for fat accumulation. But, Thanks to recent medical advances, this process is actually a simple and effective option for procedures like facial rejuvenation, breast augmentation, and body contouring. Fat is grafted and transferred in small amounts of the patient's own fat in strategic areas. This has become a common technique utilized by most surgeons today.

In fat grafting, fat tissue is removed from other parts of the body, usually thighs, belly, and buttocks. The tissue is then processed into liquid and injected into the area to fix major issues like breast augmentation to minor differences in the shape, balance, or position of the face or other parts.

The best part? It uses your own tissue instead of an implant, and the Fat is removed from an area where you don’t want it. Also, fat-graft-reconstructed areas feels soft, much like the other unreconstructed ones.

One of main sites of fat injection is the cheek area, where fat grafts are used to counteract age-related deflation to provide a fuller, more rounded appearance of the cheeks. The area below the lower eyelids and the folds between the nose and the corners of the mouth are other common sites for fat grafting.

Fat grafting is safe and not invasive, and it lasts for years thanks to the refreshing effect of stem cells that activate the rejuvenation process, keeping it in time. It’s also perfect to bring back volumes to other areas of the face that have gotten thinner through years, like cheekbones, the orbital arch and lips. And the most important thing is that you don’t have to repeat the operation month’s later like with fillers.

Fat grafting has also provided plastic and reconstructive surgeons with an exciting tool with which they get to address challenging asymmetries and contour irregularities.

Body fat is a big concern to some but fortunately, you have more options than ever before to look and feel your best.
