Stretch marks: Why it appears and how to get rid of them

Stretch marks removal treatment

Puberty, pregnancy, weight loss and weight gain are among the main causes of stretch marks… a nightmare for all men and women alike!

It may not seem like an important issue, but it is something that should be addressed as it can affect one’s body image and self-confidence.

These raised or streaky stretch marks in your skin come in different colors. At first, they appear as a thin red or purple line on your skin that takes on a different texture than the surrounding skin layer. Eventually, most stretch marks fade and take on a lighter or almost translucent coloring, and become shiny.

But while pregnant women are the ones with whom stretch marks are frequently associated with, a major part of the people are not immune to it. Men and women of nearly all ages alike can get stretch marks.

But the part of the frustration is that some get them, and some don’t, even under similar conditions! How unfair is that now! Whatever the cause, the major point is, they never really go away… well…not on their own anyway.

White stretch marks that are older skin scars are more difficult to treat than the new ones, there are options available to reduce the appearance them.

Treatments available through skin doctors and cosmetic surgeons give reduce the appearance of stretch marks. But…no one solution works for everyone, but many people find good results with some of the following treatments you can do to minimize the effect of stretch marks to help you feel more comfortable:

  • Laser therapy is one of the effective procedures in reducing the appearance of stretch marks.
  • Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a great way to revive skin.
  • Chemical peels are effective in treating starch marks as well.
  • Microdermabrasionis a painless procedure to reduce the appearance of white stretch marks.
  • Micro needling improves the skin’s appearance and reduces stretch marks.
  • Skin resurfacing is also a great procedure to reduce the appearance of stretch marks by inducing collagen production

But prior to pursuing any treatment, it is important to understand that your stretch marks fade only with time.  Treatments can improve their appearance, however, no treatment can make stretch marks disappear completely.

Despite the fact that stretch marks change your skins overall look, the situation isn’t hopeless! By keeping your weight in check, staying hydrated, eating a healthy diet, and seeking treatment soon after the marks appear anybody can tackle those pesky little stripes!
